About Carole's Studio in Hartford, Wisconsin
A working art space where European decorative traditions meet creative experimentation.
The Artist
Carole Robb is an artist and maker working from her home studio in Hartford, Wisconsin. Her work blends old-world European decorative techniques with her own creative instincts, resulting in pieces that look collected rather than crafted.
What started as a passion for antique restoration grew into a full creative practice. Carole taught herself gilding, decoupage, crackle finishing, and mixed media composition by studying the work of European artisans and adapting their methods to her own sensibility.
Every piece that leaves the studio carries traces of that learning. The finishes are layered. The surfaces are intentional. And nothing looks like it came off a production line.
The Workshops
The studio is also a teaching space. Carole hosts small workshops where participants learn hands-on techniques like gold leafing, antiquing, and mixed media composition. Most workshops are 2 to 3 hours and all materials are included.
Classes are intentionally small, usually 4 to 8 people, so everyone gets individual attention. Carole walks through each technique step by step, but leaves room for each person to make the work their own.
No experience is necessary. Some participants have never picked up a brush. Others have been making things for years. The workshop format works for both because the focus is on process, not perfection.
Ask About Upcoming Workshops"The workshop was the best afternoon I have had in years. Carole is patient, funny, and makes you feel like an artist even if you have never held a paintbrush."
